For the Christmas work that I had to do it is all research that I need to have for a few weeks into trimester 2 where I will be creating a puppet for an animation (now that will be on my animation trimester 2 page bit the illustration for it go here!!). For this project I have to choose someone interesting from my town I grew up in or a interesting family member now where I live I couldn't really think of anyone interesting but someone who is very much alive and is interesting is my own mum. Now she might not look interesting or anything but I am thinking to base my mums puppet off of her interesting life. Her life is interesting but quite upsetting so TRIGGER WARNING FOR MENTIONS OF ABUSE my mum comes from an abusive household and has many mental disabilities like Complex PTSD, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), Depression, Anxiety and Autism. Though eve with all of those 'hinderances'  (I DON'T REALLY SEE THEM AS PROBLEMS THATS JUST MY MUM WHICH IS WHY IT IS IN INVERTED COMMAS) to her daily life she's still my mu show works hard every day and is super cool.  My  research was literally just to draw her (as well as an interview about her and her issues so I can apply all of that to my own puppet and work I do). Now at the moment I am thinking to do a porcupine puppet because I could make her just my mother bit I don't want to mess it up as Ive never actually made a puppet before, drawing her I found to be not too hard but still difficult because it was the sort of [pressure of making sure it looked like her as well I see my mum all the time and to draw her accurately is sort of nerve wracking. But I feel like making a realistic puppet of her would be even harder. Either I want to do a porcupine or another animal similar for her being a strong individual with a lot of barriers around her or a phoenix because my mum has a phoenix tattoo on her back because she "came back from hell" and is now in a happy and loving family. I have to make sure that the puppet does an action and all the drawings I did I tried tot get her full body as well as she is allows sitting (so a phoenix might be good because birds mainly sit..?). But my mum is ALLWAYS DOING some form of craft and I thought if. Ido a phoenix maybe she has magic or uses her feathers to create art. also playing into how her body has been through alot as phones do set things on fire alot and are accidentally destructive and even though I love my mother her own problems are alot to know and sometimes it isn't easy for me too watch my mum struggle and have things like seizures.

 

But enough about my mums issuers the drawing I did, was super fun because it was just well drawing her. I got top use different material and I did 8 double page spreads to make sire I really practiced how she cries herself and the way my mum looks. My mum ALLWAYS has her head down and is always looking down and I think for a phoenix they are quite maghestic and strong having their head down in respect for others, and I think if Incorperte that for my ,puppet for my mum it would be cool as its just a part other. Also the drawings I feel look like I drew the ball in the same day because she is always wearing the same thing but thats just my mum signature outfit. She's always wearing a long t-shirt with trousers underneath, so that also something I want to incorporate within my work in trimester 2.
