Can stories change the world? Ruskin Moduel
WEEK 1:
This project is a Ruskin model, the main theme is "Can stories change the world?", currently I stand at im not sure with this question due to the fact that stories can change perspectives and opinions but are they strong enough to effect everyone I mean things like history have but there are still things like war, racism, homophobia, discrimination and oppression, so does history and the stories we are taught in school even affect that?? I'm not sure, does it breed more hate then good with people looking at others who accept people as "woke". I am willing to explore this and understand more in this module. The assignment for this module is to create a 15 minute long podcast about a story that I believe changed the world.
So I entered this module completely lost on what to do for the story that changed the world. I mean its simple when it comes to history and war but thats not something i'm interested in if I am going to have to make a podcast for 15 minutes i want to make sure its something im interested in. I had many ideas for what story I should choose but they didn't really change the world, they changed a part of the world or it's just something that I'm interested in so it wouldn't change the world just me. Though when I thought about it one of my favourite interests "XMEN" did really impact and change the world. It showed oppression in a different way, un-glamourising the superheroes like Captain America who were made for the war efforts and gave "superheros" reasons to fight for as well. Just a personal feeling even though the main theme of "XMEN" is oppression and differences. What I saw when I watched the animated show "XMEN '92" made by Eric Lewald published by Marvel Entertainment and Saban entertainment. I saw that society was the ones that created this oppression. Everyone has pros and cons. No one is inherently good or evil, everyone is doing it due to something that may have affected them or out of fear. That feeling I got from "XMEN" is what I want to expand upon. I want to dig deeper into the characters, the reason behind "XMEN" and why it was so influential and progressive for its time and I want to know did it really "Change the world"??

WEEK 2:
With the lesson this week I thought deeper into the kind of story that I want to do. Thinking about what I chose last week bothered me I mean I could do "XMEN" and its influence to the world though with the brief being fully explained this week and having an outline on what I need to do really made me think I mean yes sure I can talk about how XMEN changed things/impacted people but.. Like i said last week I had lots of ideas for the work on what story I could choose and suddenly I don't know if that's right to do because it seems so large of a topic I mean I could talk overall how the whole thing affected people but I am not sure really how I would expand on it. There's so many different universes and different subsections and story lines to follow in XMEN that I am not entirely sure on where to start. I am not going to completely give up on this idea though I have thought of a new idea for one of my favourite games "Final Fantasy 15". It has one story plot and I think it makes for a good emotional argument as it was and still is in the final fantasy community in the gaming world a game that let down many. I feel like as it is one solid story it will be simpler to expand upon and I have a clear idea on where to start. Though to not give up I made small plans for each of the ideas below to see how far I can expand the topics so I know which one to go with.
SO writing up the plans even though loose it gave me a strong sense on which one I will confidently be able to talk about for 15 minutes. That would be “Final Fantasy 15” (created by Square Enix, written originally by Tetsuya Nomura then taken over by Hajime Tabata). Even though the “XMEN” one has good points and it would be a really good idea to talk about it I just am not that confident within the subject whereas with final fantasy 15 it is something I am incredibly passionate about so I do have a lot to say as well as a lot to contradict my own opinions because objectively being apart of the fandom I know the negatives of the game.

To add on knowing what I am going to write about I decided I should get the assets for the essay done now so I don't have to worry about it when I am writing up my draft and planning what I am actually going to talk about on camera for 15 minutes. So I don't want to be on camera but there needs to be visuals. I do animation and illustration !! So i decided to make this thing called a PNG tuber which is a few images together in a sequence that reacts with the microphone when I will speak. I also made a little title card and a name for my podcast because something that I always spend way too much on is the name so if I get it out of the way now then my complete focus can be on the essay itself. The name of my podcast is "if the sun could talk" . I really like the sun and stars but I felt like stars are overused in the media so let's go for our sun even though it is just a star. I used a lot of calling from images i found on Pinterest smooshing them together to photo bash well.. what you have above!! The sun character is based off of me wearing my favourite jumper as well as having black glasses and brown eyes but besides that it is just the sun! Someone from my course Animation and illustration will be helping me understand how to record as I have never done it before but they are skilled within recording and uploading so hopefully everything will go well !!
